Fall 2019 Kollel: Safah/Lips

  • Iyyun Kollel 650 Sackett St Brooklyn, NY 11217 United States (map)

Sefah is a place of contrasts, like black letters on white klaf—demarcating and dissolving the dichotomies of inside and out.

What do the lips of the river or the sea have to do with our lips of limmud and tefilah?  What Torah is there to learn that magnifies and describes the contours of this in-between place, this contact zone, this instrument of inter-world union?

In this week-long intensive limmud we will explore the character and contribution of lips throughout the entire PaRDeS including Chumash, Tanakh, Midrash, Gemara, Halacha, Kabbalah and Chassidus, concluding with a presentation of philosophical, poetic and scientific approaches to the theme.

Sunday (November 17): 10am-6pm; Monday-Wednesday (November 18-20): 6:00pm-10pm; Thursday, (November 21): 5:30pm-10:30pm
